Electronic Battlespace Facility for Research, Development and Engineering

چکیده

In order to support its research, development and engineering activities in the area of distributed simulation for training and command & control, TNO Physics and Electronics Laboratory has developed (and continues to enhance) an Electronic Battlespace Facility (EBF). This paper presents an overview of the EBF, including descriptions of its main components: the Advanced Simulation Framework (ASF) and the Platform Framework (PLF) in terms of their object models. The relationship between the ASF and the underlying DIS and HLA/RTI software layers is shown and the issues related to migration from DIS to HLA/RTI will be addressed. The PLF is illustrated by showing how a particular application makes use of its facilities. Finally, brief descriptions of a number of other RD&E projects demonstrate how the EBF promotes interoperability of heterogeneous simulators and the reuse of software components in the area of Research, Development and Engineering.
